Isabella Beeton (1836 to 1865) was an English writer whose Book of Household Management, published in October 1861 after serialization from 1859, became the standard Victorian guide to cookery and domestic management. It sold nearly two million copies by 1868, and by 1891 her name had entered the Oxford English Dictionary as a generic term for a domestic authority.
