Isabella Beeton's Book of Household Management was published as a bound volume on 1 October 1861, after serialization in monthly installments from 1859. It covered cookery, servants' duties, child care, medicine and household law, growing to nearly 4,000 recipes by 1906, and sold close to two million copies by 1868, becoming the standard English domestic manual of the Victorian era.
